Dr. Javed believes that coexisting communities should be encouraged at the grass root level to improve cultural dialogue. This leads to a two-way communication building a safe zone of mutual tolerance promoting interaction, understanding and acceptance of cultural similarities as well as differences. She tries to live by these beliefs and practice what she preaches, visiting various religious and cultural centers year round and on the occasions of holidays or events like weddings and funerals. She believes that our ethnic traits keep us connected to our roots, while our American identity gives us the wings to navigate the society that is now our home. Our roots and our wings are equally important to survive, thrive, and give back to society at our own pace and in our own pattern.
